Acrisure acquires Efficient Insurance Solutions
Acrisure, a prominent financial technology and insurance entity based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, has announced its acquisition of Efficient Insurance Solutions (EIS), a managing general agent (MGA). This move aims to bolster Acrisure's capabilities in delegated underwriting authority and support its regional growth objectives. The acquisition underscores a strategic effort by Acrisure to expand its influence in technology-enabled insurance solutions, focusing particularly on affinity distribution.
Under the terms of the agreement, Acrisure will acquire full ownership of EIS. Although financial specifics have not been disclosed, current EIS stakeholders will transition into shareholders of Acrisure. Leadership continuity is preserved as the existing EIS management team will remain at the helm post-acquisition. This aspect of the deal suggests a seamless integration process, emphasizing Acrisure’s commitment to maintaining operational stability within the acquired entity.
EIS has carved out a niche as a technology-driven MGA, focusing on consumer electronics and white goods. It not only engages in underwriting but also manages claims for carrier partners, employing proprietary technology and workflow automation tools. These strengths are in line with Acrisure’s strategic focus on leveraging technology and data integration across its insurance platforms. Igor Rusinowski, CEO of Central and Eastern Europe at Acrisure, highlighted that the acquisition leverages EIS's specialized expertise and Acrisure's global resources, potentially enhancing the company’s offerings in retail and commercial insurance and reinsurance brokerage.
This acquisition follows Acrisure’s recent agreement to acquire Vave, another technology-centric MGA specializing in data-driven underwriting practices. The Vave transaction, details of which were also undisclosed, reflects a broader industry trend. Large fintech brokers are increasingly acquiring MGAs with delegated authority capacities to meet rising demand without resorting to later competition.
The completion of the EIS transaction is contingent upon regulatory clearance from the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. As these reviews progress, operational integration planning is underway. EIS's CEO, Justyna Dżus-Toczek, remarked that this acquisition not only enhances their capacity for supporting clients in Poland but also positions the MGA on an international platform. The strategic integration of EIS's capabilities with Acrisure's expansive network may have notable implications for the competitive dynamics within the insurance sector, particularly for companies focusing on speed and efficiency in claims processing and underwriting.
