California Water Service Group acquires Nexus Water Group

California Water Service Group has announced its acquisition of Nexus Water Group's water and wastewater systems in Nevada and Oregon for $218 million. This move strengthens California Water's position as the largest regulated water utility in the western United States and sets the stage for future growth. The agreement includes approximately 36,000 equivalent residential connections and a regulated rate base estimated at $109 million as of December 2025.

The transaction will be financed through a mix of working capital, existing debt, and equity facilities. California Water's chairman and CEO, Martin A. Kropelnicki, emphasized the acquisition's significance as the company marks its centennial year. It improves their service network, which will cover about two million people across 584,000 connections in seven western states.

Strategically, the acquisition allows California Water to expand its footprint in the western region's water utility market, enhancing operational efficiencies.
