Lahody Meats acquires Vera Mae's Bistro

Lahody’s Culinary Group has agreed to acquire Vera Mae’s, a well-established restaurant in Downtown Muncie, Indiana. Although terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the acquisition underscores Lahody’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in the local dining market. Lahody’s, known for its Trust Your Butcher Steakhouse in Muncie and Anderson, will maintain the Vera Mae’s brand name while leasing the space from Accutech Systems.

Vera Mae’s has long been a fixture in Muncie's downtown dining scene, recognized for its unique atmosphere and community role. Lahody’s plans to preserve the restaurant’s distinguished legacy while infusing its own operational efficiency into the business model. Ron Lahody, the owner of Lahody’s Culinary Group, emphasized the importance of honoring Vera Mae’s heritage while working to ensure its future prosperity.

The transaction marks a strategic pivot for Accutech Systems, the software firm that previously owned the restaurant as part of its investment in the downtown area. With the sale, Accutech shifts its focus toward supporting local entrepreneurs by renting its downtown spaces to independent operators. Adam Unger, CEO of Accutech Systems, voiced pride in Vera Mae’s past success and expressed optimism that Lahody’s will further build upon that foundation.
